Character Team Announcement

Are you an actor with writing chops?
Are you a writer with a secret closet full of wigs?
Did the recent SNL showcase inspire you to do a deep dive into your character work?

Then get ready, because Character World is coming!

Character World is a new, hour-long show on the iO Mainstage for Solo Character work. Auditions will be held soon to create a team of 12 writer/actors. Each of these team members will create a brand new 3-minute solo character piece to perform at the monthly show. We are talking fully costumed, fully memorized, excellently written and well-acted character comedy, here. The REAL stuff.

Team members will commit to attending weekly Thursday night rehearsals where they will present their characters to the team. Rehearsals will be collaborative environment where we will all pitch on and polish each other’s work as a group. Because of that, we are looking for not only strong comedians, but also wonderful humans who can give and take notes with grace. It is then up to the individual to choose their strongest character to refine, rehearse, and perform for the show.

The show is hosted by Karen Baughn (The Truce) but the real work will be up to YOU. If you are self-motivated to write, act, and create new characters every month, then please read on to find out audition information. We will look forward to seeing your tape!
